Saturday, December 20th, 2014 was a day of bringing “JOY” to the girls at the Bartlett Home of Maryville, the boys at the Des Plaines Home of Maryville and the Children’s Healthcare Center of Maryville in Chicago! This was so important to Kelli during the holiday season to reach out to less fortunate children. This was the 3rd Christmas that Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Foundation has gone to visit the children, bring Christmas presents and to spread “JOY”!
The gifts that were given to the children were on their Christmas wish list. It was extremely rewarding to see the smile on their faces when the children received a gift from their list. Frank, one of the boys from Des Plaines never stopped smiling. His request was a pair of gym shoes and wanted them in blue He was shocked to have received the shoes that he requested. Frank thanked us at least 10 times. Daniel from CHC was just adorable (as all the children were) but Daniel became extremely attached to John as he read him a story from the book that he just received (pictured in the high chair). One of the girls from Bartlett wanted a soft robe. When she opened her present, she screamed with “JOY”! She immediately put the robe on and danced around the house!
Over 75% of the children currently at Maryville will be spending Christmas without family. Per Sr. Cathy they are making sure that the children will have a special Christmas lunch! The day was so rewarding putting smile on children’s faces and continue to do what Kelli so loved to do in her memory!
Thanks to everyone’s continued support we were able to make a difference in many children’s lives heart emoticon Merry Christmas.
